Fairy Style Snowflakes: Basic

Style One: Fairy Snowflakes

I'll start with the Fairy Style since it is a rather simple but beautiful style and very different from most snowflakes you'll see taped up in neighborhood windows. :) Fairy snowflakes have six long points and six short points as shown here:

This is the basic form of a Fairy snowflake. Six long, six short. I call it the fairy style because it looks like sparkles or fairy dust and has a delicate and rather magical sort of appearance. Your ice cream cone would look like the following model to make the above basic Fairy snowflake:

It looks kind of like a check mark: one long side, one short. Usually when making paper snowflakes, the side with one fold becomes the long (or focus) side and the side with multiple folds becomes the short (or accent) side.

See how much is cut away? Remember, for your snowflake to be successful, (and not fall apart) all you need to do is make sure you never cut all the way through from the top to the bottom (vertically).

Note: This is to show the basic shape. For some designs you may want wider points or pieces.
To try it out before you cut go to this website to make a virtual snowflake:
